PHP Expands Its Office to Build a Dedicated Photo and Video Studio

PHP Commercial Painting today began expanding its Phoenix office after renting the neighboring office space to create a dedicated in-house photo and video studio.

The new space would bring podcast, photography and video-production capabilities directly into PHP’s daily operation while also giving the company additional room to grow.

Moving an Existing Studio to PHP

Before joining PHP as Chief Technology Officer, Joshua Herbison operated a separate production studio through his company, IdeaPro. The studio was used for podcast recording, photography, interviews and other media production.

PHP owner John Morris had been traveling to the IdeaPro studio for almost a year to record the Workforce Skills with John Morris podcast. Each recording required Morris to leave PHP’s office and travel to a separate location.

Moving the studio into the neighboring suite offered a practical solution for both companies. Morris could record without leaving the PHP office, and IdeaPro would no longer need to continue paying rent for a separate production space.

“John had been driving to the IdeaPro studio for almost a year to record his podcast,” Herbison said. “Moving the studio next door meant he would not have to leave the office, and IdeaPro would no longer need to rent a separate studio.”

Connecting the New Space

The expansion required more than moving equipment into the neighboring office.

Construction began to create a doorway connecting PHP’s existing conference room with the new studio space. The neighboring office also needed painting and new carpet before the production equipment could be installed.

The cameras, lighting, recording equipment, furniture and other production resources would come from the existing IdeaPro studio. Relocating that equipment allowed PHP to establish a professional production environment without building its entire equipment inventory from the beginning.

More Than a Podcast Studio

Although the Workforce Skills podcast was an important reason for the move, PHP planned to use the studio for considerably more than podcast recording.

The space was intended to support employee training videos, marketing content, company interviews, professional headshots and other photo and video projects that could be produced in a controlled indoor environment.

Project photography would continue to take place at active jobsites, where PHP could document actual work, progress and completed commercial painting projects.

Bringing production into the PHP office would make it easier to record content when employees, guests and company leaders were already in the building. It would also give PHP direct access to professional cameras, lighting and audio equipment as the company expanded its training and communication efforts.

The work beginning today marks the start of the buildout. Once completed, the neighboring office will become part of PHP’s broader effort to bring more technology, media production and employee education inside the company.
