PHP Commercial Painting today launched a custom alarm and security system for its Phoenix office, replacing ADT with technology that PHP can manage, expand and configure directly through PaintWorks.
The March 12, 2026 launch brings cameras, door and motion sensors, fire detection, control panels, mobile access, automated notifications and emergency escalation into one connected system designed around PHP’s operation.
Built During an ADT Service Delay
The decision to replace ADT began when one of PHP’s door alarms stopped working. ADT told the company it would take approximately two to three weeks before a technician could inspect the problem.
During that same period, PHP Chief Technology Officer Joshua Herbison designed and programmed a replacement system for the office.
The custom approach gives PHP direct control over its alarm configuration. Authorized employees no longer need to wait for an outside alarm provider to make routine changes, add equipment or adjust how the system responds.
AI-Monitored Cameras and Office Sensors
The Phoenix installation includes 16 AI-monitored cameras, 11 door sensors, 18 motion sensors, fire sensors and two control panels.
The cameras can detect movement and help identify unfamiliar visitors. PHP’s previous ADT alarm was not connected to the office camera system, leaving alarm events and video monitoring in separate environments.
The new system connects those security signals and creates detailed door-activity reporting. Authorized employees can review which door opened, the exact time of the event, who armed or disarmed the system and whether a person was recognized by the camera system.
Alarm Controls Inside PaintWorks
PaintWorks serves as the central management interface for the new security system.
Authorized employees can arm or disarm the office, review door activity, view camera events, manage alerts and change system settings from PHP’s website. Mobile applications provide access when authorized employees are away from the office.
The two office control panels also provide local access, including buttons that can immediately initiate an emergency-services notification.
Automated Calling and Emergency Escalation
When the system triggers an alarm, an automated process built with Amazon Connect and AWS Lambda calls designated PHP employees in an order selected by the company.
The employee who answers can cancel the alarm or escalate the event to police or other emergency services. Authorized employees can also initiate an emergency request from inside PaintWorks, which sends the Phoenix office address with the request.
This structure gives PHP an opportunity to evaluate an alarm while preserving immediate emergency options through the control panels and PaintWorks.
Power, Internet and Off-Site Monitoring
The security system includes redundant internet connectivity and battery capacity designed to support approximately 48 hours of operation during a power failure.
The Phoenix system sends a heartbeat every minute to PHP’s AWS-hosted website. If the website does not receive that heartbeat within three minutes, the missing signal triggers an alarm response. This provides an off-site check if the office loses power or internet connectivity and the local backup systems also fail.
Automated telephone calls and text messages keep designated employees informed while the alarm workflow determines whether the event should be canceled or escalated.
Designed for Additional PHP Locations
The system was designed from the beginning to support additional PHP offices.
Each location can have its own cameras, sensors, control panels, alert contacts and emergency address while remaining centrally managed through PaintWorks. New offices can be added without rebuilding the underlying security platform.
Today’s launch gives PHP faster control, better visibility, stronger redundancy and the ability to adapt its security operation as the company grows—all within the same PaintWorks environment used to manage the rest of the business.
