One week from today, Tommy Miller will begin his new role as Director of Business Development at PHP Commercial Painting. Ahead of his October 5 arrival, the PHP team has been preparing an office for him—and this particular room has quite a history.
It began years ago as owner John Morris’s office. Over time, it has also served as a conference room, a weight room and, most recently, the company’s estimating office.
As PHP has grown, the room has changed along with it. Now, it is ready for its next assignment: a home for the Business Development Department.

Preparing the Space
PHP’s crew has been putting in the work to get the office ready for Miller’s arrival. Fresh paint, new flooring and an updated setup have transformed the former estimating space into an office with room for both focused work and conversation.
The renovation photos capture that progress, from the crew installing the flooring to the finished room with its desk, meeting table and seating in place.
The physical work is complete. Now, the space is ready for Tommy to add his personal touch and make it his own.
A Small Piece of PHP’s History
The room’s changing uses tell a familiar story for a growing business: making the most of the space available while creating room for what comes next.
When it was John’s office, it supported the day-to-day work of running the company. As a conference room, it provided a place to meet and plan. More recently, it housed the estimating team as they worked through plans, prepared bids and pursued new projects.
Earlier this year, PHP’s estimators moved into a larger, dedicated Estimating Office with room for up to seven people, compared with a maximum of three in their previous space. That move gave the department room to expand and opened the door for this latest transformation.
Rather than simply changing the name on an office, PHP is giving a familiar part of its building a new purpose.
Ready for Business Development
Miller brings nearly three decades of experience with Dunn-Edwards and longstanding relationships within the painting and construction industries to his new position.
His arrival represents an investment in the people and relationships behind PHP’s continued growth. The new office will give him a base for connecting with contractors, exploring opportunities and working alongside the estimating and operations teams.
The vision is for the space to become a Business Development “war room”—a place to discuss opportunities, develop plans and turn conversations into action.
For now, the room is ready and the countdown is on. The PHP crew has done its part to prepare the space, and the team looks forward to welcoming Tommy on October 5.
An office that has already served PHP in several different ways is about to begin its next chapter.
